StackFRAC (SF) Cementor improves operational efficiencies and reliability of open hole, cemented-back completions.

 

Packers Plus Energy Services Inc. presents the newest innovation available to open hole cemented-back completions. The SF Cementor™ stage collar was developed to help operators improve operational efficiencies of open hole, cemented-back completions. This methodology eliminates the need for intermediate casing, resulting in significant reductions in wellbore construction costs.


Hydraulically activated and designed to close without the use of a plug or dart, the SF Cementor stage collar reduces post-cement clean-out operations, significantly lowering the likelihood of issues associated with debris in the StackFRAC® system.


The SF Cementor is assembled in the completion string above the open hole system. When the packers have been set, the tool string is further pressured up to hydraulically open the stage collar. After the cement is pumped, it is displaced using a high viscous pill and spacer fluid. By eliminating the use of a wiper plug to clean out the casing, potential challenges associated with its drill out are mitigated.


Once cementing is complete, the SF Cementor is mechanically closed and locked by lowering the casing and applying compression on the tool to isolate the ports. With fewer clean-out trips required, well stimulation operations can commence immediately. In case of incomplete closure, the stage collar is equipped with a secondary close mechanism that ensures complete sealing while maintaining full inside diameter to allow for stimulation of all stages.


Cemented-back completions are applicable in any field where there is sufficient wellbore stability to maintain integrity while the horizontal is being drilled. The SF Cementor has been run in a variety of formations and lithologies in the US, Canada and internationally.
